Date: Sat, 8 Oct 2005 04:05:23 -0400 Hi, all. Thanks, Linus and Dan, for your help. One more question. I've found, in my box of AC adapters, a 9 volt, 600 MA unit that fits into the player I have. How do I know whether this is centre positive or negative? When I have someone look at it, they can't tell, saying that there is a -, then a circle with a dot in it, then a + sign. I'm sure this can be interpreted, perhaps by examining the shape of the design or something, to tell me whether the centre is positive or negative, but don't know how to interpret it. I've already plugged the player in (it's useless anyway), and it says "charging battery". Does this mean the adapter is positive and safe to use on the recorder? Would there be smoke if the wrong polarity was at play, or some other obvious way to see that the charging circuit had blown? Thanks.
