OH, Rocker, forgot to say. Any equivalent bit rate and sample rate .ogg file
will be smaller than an MP3 equivalent. I think there's about 1/3
difference, but don't quote me on that one. With .ogg, it's best I've
found, to beep the sample rate relatively high, I.E. 22.5 or at lowest 16,
and reduce the bit rate, I.E. to 32KB and certainly you don't need it higher
than 48KB. Unfortunately the only real way to find out is to suck it and
see, your idea of "acceptable" might be different to mine. I'm quite happy
with AM radio quality for spoken word, but many people aren't. I spent too
much time listening to old tapes and sports commentaries I guess..

Rob

I would like to say thank you very much because most of my books are in ogg
format and now I don't have to hear the file names spelled out.
* Great work you programmer you! I'll wait for the update That Brian is
working on.

A question about OGG files.

I would like to start converting MP3's to OGG. I'd like some advice on
comparative bit rates. If I rip a 160 kbs 16 khz stereo MP3 from a CD, how
much smaller could I rip the file to OGG while maintaining the same quality?
How about an 32 kbs 8 kHz mono for my audio books?

Thanks...rocker
