Date: Thu, 3 Nov 2005 09:46:52 -0000 OH, Rocker, forgot to say. Any equivalent bit rate and sample rate .ogg file will be smaller than an MP3 equivalent. I think there's about 1/3 difference, but don't quote me on that one. With .ogg, it's best I've found, to beep the sample rate relatively high, I.E. 22.5 or at lowest 16, and reduce the bit rate, I.E. to 32KB and certainly you don't need it higher than 48KB. Unfortunately the only real way to find out is to suck it and see, your idea of "acceptable" might be different to mine. I'm quite happy with AM radio quality for spoken word, but many people aren't. I spent too much time listening to old tapes and sports commentaries I guess.. If I rip a 160 kbs 16 khz stereo MP3 from a CD, how much smaller could I rip the file to OGG while maintaining the same quality? How about an 32 kbs 8 kHz mono for my audio books?
