Alright, I did some more tests on my unit (Recorder V1).

I got 9 hours and 53 minutes out of my unit before it started to shut down because of no power.

I let it charge for 12+ hours before I tested it
I turned Disk Poweroff to "Yes"
I do not use the peak meter
I have Energizer 2500 mAh batteries that are about 3 months old
I wait until the batteries are empty for recharging
I alway use my Recorder to charge
Most of the files I play are VBR mp3 files (so larger than the typical 128k CBR files)

Looking at this, perhaps my Recorder (w/rockbox v2.5) is performing ok -- it seems to have shorter battery life than it used to, like 14 hours or so.

>I also have noticed a dramatic decrease in battery life since going to 2.5. It seems to need a charge only after a few hours of use. I'm using some 2500maH Energizer batteries that are about 3 months old on my Recorder. I always charge them in my Recorder, and always run it down as low as possible before recharging. I normally let them recharge overnight, and when I unplug it it's in trickle charge mode. If anyone needs any more info or needs me to run tests, let me know. Perhaps it's just crappy batteries, but after seeing George's post, I thought I'd let you all know.
