Yeah, I'd guess that a larger display would use a lot more power than the smaller screen already on the H100 unit. I'd venture that you'd need an external power supply. Sounds like a neat project though. As for where to look for larger displays, I'm sure there are plenty of resources out there to check, based on which style of screen you want (TFT, etc) and what size you really want. I'm guessing something "4 times bigger" than your H100 series screen will put you in the 8" screen range ... here's an example of a screen approx 8.4" diagonal viewing: http://www.sharpsma.com/part.php?PartID=4853 it'll do 800x600 resolution, 18-bit color, etc. Here's their list of all 5.0"-8.8" screens and basic capabilities: http://www.sharpsma.com/productgroup.php?ProductGroupID=51&SubProductGroupID=87 Problem with that site, of course is (a) they only seem to list SHARP products, and (b) they don't list prices. But you get the idea. As for wiring, I imagine you're on your own for that one. I'm pretty certain that you'd have to come up with your own circuitry to control this new panel (microcontroller, etc), and somehow get signals from the H100 system to tell the microcontroller what to do. Might be cheaper to buy a $400 laptop, wire its power supply into your vehicle's electrical system for power, and use the USB controller to mount the H100 as a local drive and have winamp running on the laptop /shrug Good luck with the project, Ian Received on 2005-11-13 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
