Unfortunately, the decoder for AAC/MP4 has not yet been optimised enough, and thus, only runs at around 50% of realtime. See http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SoundCodecs#Current_status for an overview of what works and what still requires work in order to function. Note that mp3's and ogg-vorbis files currently run at >100% realtime, and thus, don't skip.
