Because then you're caving to the b*stards! That "legal" downloads are going to be crippled is not a done deal. It saddens me greatly to see Apple succeeding as well as they have selling crippled music but that doesn't mean the end of the game. The opportunity is still there for a music service to offer un-crippled music. Since the crippling is so easy to work around anyway, I don't see the problem for our players. Getting people to use superior firmware that removes the crippling is the best thing that could happen for digital music. Instead of accommodating crippled music, I suggest not buying it at all. I know, preaching to deaf ears. Expediency is more important than principle these days.
