I've been running the Korean firmware since 1.20 or so as this doesn't
limit the volume like the EU ones do. The Japanese is the same as the
Korean (but in Japanese). In fact, short of the volume limitation,
these both the same as the European one. So go right ahead and use the
japanese one.

I just successfully installed rockbox (for the first time! yay!) on my
H340. The device previously had the Korean firmware 1.28, but I
patched the Korean 1.29 and installed that. Everything works just
beaut.

You can even try patching the H300.hex file which is probably still on
your H300 from the last firmware upgrade you did (unless you deleted
it).

good luck!
