Rockbox-Devices with RTC (real time clock) do always know the exact date and time except if the batteries have gone totally low or have been replaced. In both cases, a significally OLD date is reported by the rtc (or even the "empty" data) So that case can be handled as well. On shutdown, rockbox would store the battery state (as Bluechip tought) as well as the date of shutdown. On startup, rockbox would reuse the stored battery state for charging(as Bluechip requested) but only if the shutdown was not more than five days ago. lImbus On 1/9/06, Glenn at home <GlennErvin_at_cableone.net> wrote: > How would the unit know the real time without going through the trouble of > changing it? > Glenn > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Manuel Dejonghe" <manuel_at_dejonghe.de> > To: "Rockbox" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> > Sent: Sunday, January 08, 2006 5:40 PM > Subject: Re: Charging in rb2.5 > > > On 1/8/06, Bluechip <csbluechip_at_gmail.com> wrote: > > If the unit has been powered off for > > some days/weeks the reading would be terribly wrong given the general > > nature of modern batteries, ... > > For that case, the date/time of shutdown could be stored as well on > the units with rtc.
