Rockbox and H340

From: Brian Hartgen <brian_at_hartgen.org>

Hi

Sorry to post this again, but I did not see it on the list.

I am hoping someone can please help.

I installed Rockbox onto an iRiver H340 for someone today, together with the

English Audrey voice to speak menu items, folder and file names. I used the

1.28 European firmware, and although I did not install the latest build of

Rockbox, it is the build I have been using successfully without any problems

for more than two weeks, so I know it works fine.

Everything was performing well. The person then used it for a little while,

and unfortunately that's when the problems started (smile).

The player/Rockbox exhibits the following behaviour. I have brought the

iRiver home with me so I can get it working again.

In summary, Rockbox does speak menus correctly, however items do not appear

to get saved. So for example, if I activate the reading of folder and file

names, this does not get saved. If I change the value in base or trebble,

it does not get saved.

More crucially, there is no audio playback. I can navigate folders and the

names are spelled as this function was activated prior to the problem

occurring, but I cannot play a file. If I boot up to the iRiver firmware

however, which I can do, I can play the files as usual.

I did delete the rockbox.iriver file and the .rockbox folder, then replaced

them, but that did not seem to resolve the problem. In fact, the settings

which had previously been stored on the player were still in place.

My question is how can I restore Rockbox back to the original settings as

though it had not been installed before please? Where do settings changed

in the menus get written to? If I update the firmware back to the original

patched 1.28 version, will that help?

Thanks.
