As Bluechip already wrote, the WAV codec can be loaded into the DSP RAM
and does NOT change or damage the hardware.

The code and the documentation of the WAV codec (i.e. PCM codec) are
available in the Data Sheets section (see
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/DataSheets), but the codec
has still to be implemented into Rockbox.
