It would be nice if it did, but unfortunately that's not the case. The PCM
codec is a black box for us, not within reach to modify that.

The MAS is said to internally do a lot of things with DMA, bypassing its
relatively weak DSP core. It is very well possible that the data we'll feed
is never touched by its CPU.
