If I don't have visible links to the files and don't let the indexing robots in (robots.txt) then one needs the exact fully qualified URL to access the file(s). It isn't NSA quality security but it does make casual prowling more difficult. My site has a wide variety of deep linked files hosted for various groups. I can tell by the log file that they're not being accessed frequently - just what I intended.
