RE: IPOD PORT AND AUDIBLE

Hi Ron and all,

The way the audible format works, is that it's encrypted MP3 files.
Goldwave can convert them, sometimes, to standard MP3, however it
doesn't always work. I guess therefore, it would depend not on getting
support for an additional codex, but for being able to unlock the
encryption.

I've noticed that some of the files are sampled at unusual bit-rates,
that may be the only "encryption", however I doubt it's that simple.

I think a better solution, (one that I don't yet have) is to find a
programme that'll convert audible content reliably, and do the
conversion yourself. Goldwave often mixes up the file so it plays in
a random order. Not too bad when the segments are say 3 to a 4 hour
file, but trippy as hell when it does it to individual words I'd
suggest!.

I see where the port to the IPOD is going quite nicely.

a question, will the port be able to play Audible content?
