or: throw away this sh*tty batt, solder a bridge from the DC jack to the batt pin (like I did) and so you can use it with any standard 5v power supply. Use it as external USB drive (no batts required) or use it near your pc with an USB to DC jack cable. Usage in car is also an option, but the car adapter mode will not work without battery. The time and some other settings in the RTC will be cleared.

Digital in is only possible with special 4-pin jack, not very common, digital out: nope. And the buttons are not feelable, especially in your pocket.
