Thanks so much! That worked like a treat! I think where I went wrong the
first time I tried it is on the "Press Play to create a bookmark" bit.

I hit play (on the iRiver h340) and assumed that a bookmark had been
created. I didn't see anything to the contrary, but when I went to load my
bookmark, lo and behold, nothing there!

After playing around with it yesterday after the suggestions I got, I
figured out that "Play" button on the H340 is not the "Play" that Rockbox
was expecting. We H340/H320 users need to hit the NAVI button to create
bookmarks. Once you figure that bit out, the rest is a breeze!

The "Ask" on stop feature is really cool. I simply choose not to create a
bookmark if I'll be continuing listening to the playlist, but can now easily
create one if I want to play something else, then come back to the same
place in the playlist. Marvellous!

One small thing, which REALLY doesn't bother me, but I did notice. The
bookmark contains the position of the current track, i.e. 1:34 through,
however when I load the bookmark, it starts at the beginning of the track.
Like I said, for me, it's no biggie. It's sooooo much better not having to
scroll through thousands of tracks to get back to where I was. Has anyone
else experienced this?

Your suggestion is basically what it does now, if you set the Bookmark
Option "Load Last Bookmark" to "Yes" or "Ask".

You have to be using the distributed method of bookmark storage for this
to work.

It's only complicated because it is versatile. Most people choose a
method of working and use that only. For instance, I use the "Recent
Bookmark" method because I don't want my directory structure littered
with miscellaneous bookmark files. I want to be able to go to one place
and see all my bookmarks.
