Hi,

Ask your sighted help to go into the rockbox menu/general settings/voice and
make sure the speak menus is set to yes. Speak directories is set to
numbers. speak file names is set to numbers.

Also have them go into the playlist options and set the show files to either
music or supported. Left arrow out of the menus until the main folder/file
list appears and you should start hearing voice.

If that does not work then download and install an earlier version of
rockbox and unzip it to your player. Try March 31 for example. It could
be that the voice is still broken on recent builds.

Good luck...rocker

Hi folks,

I am trying to install Rockbox on my Iriver H340. I am a blind user, and
wish to get it to talk, so please bear with me, and I will try to tell you
what is happening.

I have copied all the necessary files, including the english.voice file to
the .rockbox folder, the voice file is in the .rockbox\langs folder, as it
should be. I have downloaded and patched the H300.hex file. I copied it
onto my Iriver. I then proceeded to upgrade the firmware.

It would appear that it worked, because apparently, what is happening
visually, according to a sighted colleague of mine, is that the Rockbox boot
loader loads up with the Rockbox screen, then immediately after boot, the
Iriver powers down. It is 100 percent charged, and if I switch back to the
Iriver firmware with Rec+Play, then the Iriver stays on and works fine.

Anyone please have any ideas on this? I would love to get this thing
talking.

Thanks.

All the best
