I think no. everytime you load the voice file (entering menu without playing) the buffer will be cleared and the voice file will be loaded for babbling. If you play a song, the whole buffer will be cleared for audio data. The ~1,6MB is the limit for archos units with 2MB RAM including the rockbox code in RAM (not in ROM). Nowadays it is only ~1,5MB or less, depending on your dir buffer settings.
