Date: Sat, 22 Apr 2006 19:23:15 -0400 Need some help from the masters. I have a JB Recorder 20, and I started noticing some strange behavior from it. I've been listening to podcasts a lot lately, so I end up adding and deleting them from the Podcasts directory on my Archos fairly regularly (i.e. several times a week). Over the last two weeks, I have noticed that something was wrong with the filesystem, in that I was having parts of podcasts overwritten by parts of other podcasts. I tried fscking under Linux, and it would not correct the problem. I booted Windows XP Pro in a vmware instance, and tried checkdisk. It rebooted the windows instance. I decided to try to format the archos and re transfer everything over to it. Under Linux, it gave me the following error: [defiant /home/storm]# mkfs.vfat -c -F 32 /dev/archos mkfs.vfat 2.11 (12 Mar 2005) mkfs.vfat: Too few blocks for viable file system I tried under XP, and it took a long time to do the format (~1 hr...For a 20GB drive). The Archos debug information is as follows (places where the readings are /'ed means it was bouncing between them: PADR: A27D PBDR: BDBF AN0: 3FF AN4: 000/001 AN1: 3FF AN5: 000/001 AN2: 001/002 AN6: 32A/32B AN3: 00D/00E AN7: 001/002/003 Batt: 5.23/5.244V 87% ATA: master 0x200 Any ideas on what the problem is with the Archos?
