Re: iRiver H340

Hi

If it is any consolation, I am too experiencing some strange behaviour now I
have updated my build of Rockbox onto my iRiver player often resulting in
loss of speech. I am not too worried about this of course, but am just
reporting this in the event that it can be duplicated.

Here's what happens.

As background, I have been running Rockbox for about five months now using a
build dated December 2005. This worked really well I was reluctant to
change, and the reason I did was because NeoSpeech Kate kept being cut off
when she was delivering folder and file names!

This latest build does not have that problem. However when I initially
power on the unit, I do not get speech. I have to switch the player off,
start it playing again by pressing play, then I get speech and can navigate.
If there is anything else I can tell you in order to be helpful, please ask.

OTHER ISSUES

I have noticed since installing this build that the unit tends to "go to
sleep" extremely quickly and I wonder if there is a way of extending this.
In other words, if I leave the unit for about three seconds, I have to press
a key to "wake up" the player, then the key I actually want to execute quite
quickly. This causes quite a problem.

My last question. Is there a web resource I can consult to learn how to
create my own menu prompts please, either through synthetic speech or using
a human reader?

Thanks.
