Well the "SE" versions of the 3x0 are "Special Edition", also known as
"Lite". Basically it's the basic music player, with several of the
accessories removed from the pack to keep the price down. They will be
missing items like the docking station, microphone, external battery pack
etc. Basically make sure you know what items are in the kit before buying.
These have been offered for sale through various outlets for a long time
now, although discontinued at a lot of places now, just like the full
version.

No idea about the D units though.
