I have an original Archos 6000, and I love the Rockbox software!
It was amazing to see my device that was pretty much sitting
on the shelf come roaring back to life for me with the Rockbox
firmware. In contrast, I bought an ILO 1GB player in January,
and it generally works and is very light and portable, but it
has no resume function and very slow searching, so it is a major
pain to listen to podcasts instead of individual songs. I want
to slap their stupid programmers around the head for not adding
the most useful feature of all, resume.
I have one small issue with my Archos, and I was hoping someone
could point the way. Some of the MP3s I want to play are delivered
in the format listed as "MPEG 2.5 Layer III" at 24kBit/s and 11025
Hz. This format is apparently not supported on this older unit.
Files in the format "MPEG 2 Layer III" at 24kBit/s and 16000
Hz play fine. (Oddly, the 2.5 format apparently doesn't even
Can anyone recommend an application that will convert MPEG 2.5
to MPEG 2, so I can play the files on my old Archos?
I have been trying to use BonkEnc.org, and I thought it worked
for me a couple of months ago, but I can't get it working again.
After conversion I am left with an MPEG 2.5 format. (BonkEnc is
a really nice app, but the manual is yet to be written...) Maybe
someone could guide me through BonkEnc for this conversion?
Thanks alot! I really appreciate your help.
