No.
Currently you can only record to wav, 44.1kHz and this results in that
file size. Recording to compressed formats isn't implemented yet (and
won't be done soon)

You can use the wav2mp3 viewer plugin to convert the wav to mp3, or
convert it on a PC (which makes more sense, as it usually will be ways
faster).
