Glenn, here are the unfortunate answers to each of your replies...

Like I said, I have tried this to no avail -- the player gets to maybe
halfway through phase 2, then freezes.

Ok, but I've already tried copying in DOS, and it freezes the player just
the same. What can be going on? Remember, I can play, record, listen to
voice clips, EVERYTHING else just fine.
