Yep. I was shutting down properly.

I got it to work by editing the rockbox_default.cfg theme.

I overrided the font: directive and specified my preferred font (which, by
the way, isn't in /.rockbox, but in /.rockbox/fonts and still worked).

Is a glitch in the manual then?
