Why don't you use MP3 Direct Cut. I don't know the software you refer to,
but I have used the MP3DC for more than one year, with very good results,
for the job you specify, and much more. It's easy, and it's free.

Usually, what you need to do, is to mark the porsion you want to save in its
own file, and then save it. Of course, if the file contains several tracks,
i.e one mp3 clip contains a whole CD, you could use the pause detection of
the software, and have it automatically split the tracks.
