I think i've figured out that the Iriver firmware is loading rather than the
rockbox. There is at least a 6 second pause after I push the on button and
when I push the off button the player shuts down immediately rather than
letting the disk spin. Also, my mother told me that when it starts up the
screen says Iriver and then starts telling me how many folders and files are
on the player. Hope this might clarify some things. Anymore suggestions
are greatly appreciated. The unit still won't talk. I have performed a
few resets and the player still behaves the same way.
