Correlation does not imply causation.

My email address got no spam for a year, then all of a sudden spam
picked up across the board. I had made no changes to list subscriptions
since I created the address.

Just because your increase in spam happened soon after you subscribed to
this list does not mean that the two are related.

For what it's worth, I haven't seen anything wrong with the list
configuration, excepting perhaps that I like the subject to be prefixed
with something like [Rockbox] to make it easier to filter those mails.
But, that's just my preference.

Full disclosure: I don't see what the big deal is with spam. Doesn't
really bother me.
