I was when I first began using Rockbox. The Jukebox worked cwell enough, but sometimes the settings would change by themselves. This would happen while I was pressing either the up/down or the previous/next buttons. I would always know when something wasn't right, because I couldn't change the volume, change the track, or even pause until I stopped the unit. Everything would work fine after I resumed playing except for the fact that repeat would suddenly be on, or "showed files" option had been set to display all. Eventually this Archos had battery issues, so I bought an FM recorder on EBay. It was barely used so it was in excellent condition, and I really like it! But, now I'm having the same problem. I'll be using the volume buttons, and all of the sudden, the keys seem to lock up. Then I have to stop

We have had two Archos V1 recorders in our family. Mine still works
fine, but my wife's had problems with the buttons sometimes being
mis-read by the software. For instance the Up button would sometimes act
as though F1, F2, or F3 had been pushed (usually F2), and other buttons
sometimes acted weirdly as well. This sounds like it might be your
problem - You press Up, but it takes you into the F2 menu and subsequent
key presses change the F2 options.

I made a private build of Rockbox based on the official v2.5 to try and
avoid some of these problems, where all keys have to be held a little
longer to register.

I called this build v2.5.1 and have made it available on the Rockbox web
site at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/RockBox251

If you want to try this build, you will see that it includes a number of
other enhancements, some of which will aid a blind user. Another
enhancement is an improved battery charging algorithm, so you may be
able to resurrect your V1 Recorder!

Hope this helps
Tom
