Hmmm... well, bash certainly does have your four "most important things"
(and much more).

I don't doubt that 4NT is nice but, at $75 a pop, I would recommend that
folks just install Cygwin (which offers a real bash shell and much, much
more, all for free). That would also enable the possibility of using bash
shell scripts instead of .bat files (which hardly even warrant the term
"script"). Just MO...
