Subject: how to use the WPS: possible misunderstanding

how to use the WPS: possible misunderstanding

yesterday i tried to change my WPS for the first time (iriver h120, 061027
build). specifically, i tried to change it to marquee-adapted (see
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIriverH100#MikeSobel).

i found that the WPS didn't really work (screen layout was very poor, text
overwrote itself) until i navigated to the chicago-12 font and changed the
whole player interface to use that font.

but i don't want to use chicago-12 the rest of the time. i find the
-default font very good for directory listings, because it displays so
much information.

what i had assumed would happen was that the wps would automatically load
the chiacgo-12 font while music was playing, but that the player would
revert to the default font the rest of the time, when the WPS wasn't up.

am i making a wrong assumption about wps and fonts? or have i not loaded
the wps properly? any light would be most helpful.
