I am not quite sure what you are trying to say. Are you saying that I can use the line that you mention from your script to change the rate for a sapi5 voice or can you tell me where this elusive property rate you talk about can be located.

  No, the rate adjustment in SAPI5 is slightly different but similar from the method used in SAPI4.

  In SAPI5 use the rate property to change the rate. I can't remember whether the rate adjust refer to the number of spoken words per minute.

    Would inserting that line also work for a SAPI 5 voice such as scansoft lee and would the figure of 360 work for a scansoft voice or does it need to be adjusted and is the 360 a words per minute speed?
