Firstly, please don't reply to an existing email if you want to ask a

The same problem happens for people using a "threaded view" in their
email software.

To answer your question, the easiest way is by the location of the
headphone socket. If it's in the middle of the top of your ipod, then
it's a photo. If it's on the right-hand side on the top, then it's a video.
