Blind person interested in Rockbox and Ipod

Hi all,

I've sent this a few times and am not sure if it is getting posted because I
haven't received any responses, nor seen my message in the archives.

I'm a blind person who has been on the fence for almost a year now trying to
find the ipod that bests suits me and my needs.

I found out about rockbox a few weeks ago and have been poking around the
website a lot. For me, the battery is the biggest priority. I am looking for
the
ipod that can run with rockbox the longest. On the run time section on the
site, the Ipod 5G 30 gb video has a few clocked runtimes, but the 5.5 30
video
doesn't. On Apple's site the 5.5 Ipod video runs for 20 H, which is 6 H more
than the 5G. I can see well enough to see how many from the top the
highlighted
option on the menue list is from the top of the menue, but I can not read.
This enables me to memorize some of the features on an ipod without rockbox,
but I would prefer using speech. Would I be able to use the ipod accessories
with Rockbox turned off with the amount of sight I have, or would those
accessories
still be able to function with Rockbox turned off?

I saw the Ipod Nano 2G and fell in love with the 8 gb model. Too bad,
rockbox only works with the 1G. Does the 1G Nano running rockbox have the
same features
and the same operating procedures as the 5.5G 30 gb Video?

I just want an ipod for music, and want the ability to search for files, so
I don't consider the Shuffle. I am not sure of this, but from my
understanding
of what's been said today on the mailing list files skip on Ipods. If you
are finding files to be skipping only on the ipod, but not before you
transfer
them on to the device, are the skips caused by files that are damaged while
being transfered, or by Rockbox?
Should I just wait until the 2G Nano is compatible with Rockbox, or is that
going to be a very long time?
Thank you in advance.
