My friend and I both have iaudio x5l units and are interested in the possibility to play midi files with them. But so far we have no success. Rockbox justs freezes while trying to play those files. On the irc channel I was told that the problem might be because the patchset is too big and iaudio just don't have enough memory. My friend got a patchset that is just 8 mb in size but the problem still exists. So my question is: 1. Has anyone succesfully played midi on iaudio x5? 2. May using speech in rockbox actually prevent us from being able to play such a files? Thanks. Sergei. ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sat, 13 Jan 2007 09:16:29 -0600 From: "Stephen Clower" <steve_at_steve-audio.net> Subject: RE: help, my H340 won't start Rockbox most of the time To: "'Rockbox'" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Message-ID: <000601c73725$ce519840$c161f044_at_Desmond> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Arnaud, I don't know if this has been addressed yet in Rockbox, but for some reason the H3X0 players will always boot into the Iriver firmware if they are powered on while connected to the AC charger. I went into the iriver firmware. I just turned it off and turned it back on and all was well. _____ From: rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se [mailto:rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se] On Behalf Of Stephen Clower Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2007 9:16 AM To: 'Rockbox' Subject: RE: help, my H340 won't start Rockbox most of the time Arnaud, I don't know if this has been addressed yet in Rockbox, but for some reason the H3X0 players will always boot into the Iriver firmware if they are powered on while connected to the AC charger. I am following the instructions given on the homepage of Brian Hartgens. I connected the Nano to the computer and had a sighted person set ITunes to enable to use as disk. I noticed that, when i found the Ipod in Windows Explorer, no music was shown - just calendar, contacts, and notes folders. The second problem came when i ran the command ipodpatcher --scan I received the message [err] no ipods found Any assistance will most definitely be appreciated. Let it go and you should hear rock box read the filename of the last song that you were on. It's a bit sluggish, but you'll get the feel of it after a while. Brian Hartgens breifly mentions it, and it is mentioned on the Rockbox pages he links to, but I just want to be sure - you are using a first generation Nano? The second generation Nanos have an all metal body, and do not work with Rockbox. > > I connected the Nano to the computer and had a sighted person set > ITunes to enable to use as disk. Your music is buried deep in a hidden folder called ipod control. ------------------------------ Message: 9 Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2007 09:09:08 +1100 From: "Hamish Mackenzie" <hamish_at_mackenzieoz.com> Subject: Re: Question About Installing Rockbox To: "Rockbox" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Message-ID: <02c801c7375f$73c35370$0132a8c0_at_DCDesk> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" If you just received it then there is a pretty good chance it is a second generation Nano which wont work with Rockbox. You can tell the difference in two simple ways the second gen has a metallic feel to its body and the edges are slightly rounded where the first gen feels more plastic and has square edges. If it is a second gen then you are out of luck.
