Subject: Re: New bootloader for Ipods

Re: New bootloader for Ipods

The reason the whole issue of new bootloader versus old bootloader has
come up recently is because of a reccent source code change which
enables (for the first time) the ccoprocessor on the PortaPlayer
targets. (iPodds and the iRiver H10)
The old bootloader can not handle the coprocessor. The new code was
designed to notice you still had the old bootloader, and not try to
wake the coprocessor, but it appears this might have some bugs.
The reason the new bootloader was suggested for someone with AAC
issues is because AAC is currently overly-CPU hungry, and the hope was
the new bootloader plus new build combination (with the power of BOTH
CPUs) might "fix" the AAC issue.
