.
.The reason the whole issue of new bootloader versus old bootloader has
.come up recently is because of a reccent source code change which
.enables (for the first time) the ccoprocessor on the PortaPlayer
.targets. (iPodds and the iRiver H10)
.The old bootloader can not handle the coprocessor. The new code was
.designed to notice you still had the old bootloader, and not try to
.wake the coprocessor, but it appears this might have some bugs.
.The reason the new bootloader was suggested for someone with AAC
.issues is because AAC is currently overly-CPU hungry, and the hope was
.the new bootloader plus new build combination (with the power of BOTH
.CPUs) might "fix" the AAC issue.
.

Thanks for the explanation. It's exciting that more processing power is now available on the iPods. It's certainly worth losing AAC support temporarily to make this happen.

Cheers,
Anna
