Hi,
I can't imagine that formatting the iPod with Windows Explorer would be a good idea. I would try this:
With the iPod connected, use your mouse cursor to click on Settings.
There should be a Restore button on the page; click it with the mouse cursor.
That should do the trick, I think.

I have an old iMP-550. I believe the UDA1380TT is on the iMP-550. I live in the Netherlands. The player is still working, but skips after being on for an hour or so. I am willing to sell it to you for a reasonable price. I am keeping the remote though...
