strange problem, occuring mostly with 192 kbps mp3

Hi,

I was listening to a audio file, (I'm fairly sure it was 192 kbps), mp3, and all of the sudden, it started to skip, such so there was gapps in playback. But, even stranger, when I'm running the battery benchmark plugin, all of the files skip. The skipps all seem to be happening randomly. But, with the cds I ripped, they're 192 kbps vbr mp3. These are mostly the ones I get gapps from- all others are fine (except with the battery benchmark plugin running- but the ones that are 192 kbps are much worse, almost being frustrating to listen to.) . I'm curious, are there any patches I should be aware of-or is there a way I can search through the tracker for ones for my player (ipod video 30 gb). Using mar. 7 build, current build, at least, I'm fairly sure. I know, I should upgrade to the latest build- but I've had 2 failed attempts in installing rockbox, so am sort of scared to go any farther with this...but, if it helps anyone, I won't hesitate.
