I think you have the wrong voice file installed. There are several voice files available on the rockbox site, one for old builds and releases, and files for newer builds. The firmware has certain messages to be displayed on your screen, and of course, the voice files must contain their audio versions. So, if the voice file does not match the messages inside your firmware, things will go wrong. Please determine what the current rockbox version number is, that you are now running, and then check on the rockbox site to see if you have the right voice file. If not sure, it will do you no harm to just go ahead and download the correct file, overwriting the current one with it in your player. Either of two things can happen.

1. If you did have the correct voice file, nothing will change, and you will have to investigate forther.
2. If the file was the wrong one and you now have the right one in place, the voiced menus will improve.

  I am trying to use the voice with rockbox. I have the voice files loaded and got someone to turn on the voice option. The interface is not speaking correctly. It is saying something about about contrast and twelve hour clock but is showing settings. When I hit menu, nothing speaks. Should I uninstall rockbox and the bootloader totally and reinstall? I asked about the error message yesterday, and thought I fixed it with the bootloader reload. It's still messed up though. By the way, I am a blind user. Should I install an earlier daily build? It worked before, but I had not updated the ipod bootloader file, which I have since done. Please help! I am very frustrated and hope this message makes some sense.
