The menu inside the screen is really just a convenience and still results in recording being reinitialized. All recording options are available there last time I looked. Screen keys (I checked again to remind myself so I hope no mistakes): When not recording: short power: exit screen long record: recording settings short record: start new recording short play: start new recording long play: exit screen When recording: short power: stop short record: split file short play: pause/unpause long play: stop ...so you have to stop first then exit ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul Erkens To: Rockbox Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2007 7:36 PM Subject: iaudio rockbox recording Hi list, I have an x5 from IAudio, the latest rockbox build, and voice menus and all that enabled. I'm blind. My question. How does recording work? I read about it in the rockbox manual, but it is not entirely clear to me. I can move to the "recording screen" option in the main menu. When I open this with right arrow, the recording monitor switches on, meaning that I hear the microphone signal coming from the internal mic, into my headphones. This is fine, and the behaviour I expected. However, the voice menus don't speak anymore from this point, so I have no clue what to do next. Can I, or should I, configure anything like recording source, number of channels to record etc, or should I already have done this in the main menu, settings, recording settings menu? Secondly: how do I start a recording, after having entered the recording screen? Next is how do I stop the recording and return to the main menu again? To do some basic recording to begin with, your answers are very much appreciated. If I have any more questions, I want to make sure I first understand the very basics before going on. Please tell me how this recording feature works. I'm very happy with rockbox and my unit, and I'd like to master it. Best regards, Paul.
