When I go into the database option from the main menu, all it says is folder 1, folder 2 etc, with nothing there to work with. But on the whole, it doesn't really matter. There is enough in rockbox that is accessible indeed. Most of the radio, most recording options, and most of the file browser is perfectly usable. I usually know where I put my stuff on the drive, and in which folders is what, so I have no need for database features to sort my files by artist etc. I don't use playlists either. Browsing the file system, and then picking what you want to play, suffices for the time being. Even the recording capabilities are okay. What you cannot do is use the trigger menu, nor can you reliably adjust gain such that it does not clip, while still being loud, because in these situations you have no screen feedback from the voice. But on the other hand, deleting, moving and reordering files on the unit itself, plus all of the above, is more than I've ever been able to do in the past with other devices. Status and error messages are also not spoken, but the cases in which those occur are rare, and the rest you can avoid by carefully operating the unit. For example, there is a disk full error message in the firmware that will not speak, but before you start recording, or transferring new audio into the player, you can always check the remaining disk space yourself, so you can easily avoid the disk full message. The same goes for many other situations. So to answer the question, the database feature may not be accessible, but don't let that disappoint you. There's plenty that remains.
