I recommend Not getting the eloquence fast speaking one, as it only speaks about half the options. There's a link to the voice files page from the online manual. when you download the voice file, you will need to unzip it and you'll see a file called english.voice. Place that on the IAudio in the .rockbox/langs directory. Second. I believe you need the x5fw.bin file as the bootloader, not the x5vfw.bin one. Third. when installing the bootloader. Make sure you turn the unit off before you unplug the USB cable. Otherwise, unplugging the cable will give the impression that the unit is turning off on it's own, but from hard experience I can tell you that's not the case. Hehe. You can keep the rockbox build on there that you already have, so do this. Put the voice file in. Find the x5fw.bin bootloader and copy it into the firmware directory. turn off the unit. Unplug the usb cable. Plug in the chargr and give it a couple of minutes, you should hear the hard drive spin up and down a time or two. Now, unplug the charger, plug in your headset, turn the unit on and you should hear speech. If not, try pressing the down arrow on the joystick a couple of times. -----Original Message----- From: rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se [mailto:rockbox-bounces_at_cool.haxx.se]On Behalf Of Joan Ann Brosnan Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2007 6:00 PM To: Rockbox Subject: Re: installing rockbox onto an IAudio x5 Hi I followed the below instructions but, I have had no luck getting rockbox to work. The bootloader file I am using is called x5v_fw.bin Is there something else I need to do? List of 6 items . Download the bootloader binary on the bottom of this page . Copy it to the FIRMWARE directory on your X5/M5 . Turn the X5/M5 off, remove the USB cable and insert the charger. The X5/M5 will automatically upgrade the flash with the Rockbox bootloader . Proceed with installing the X5/M5 version of Rockbox from the current build page. That is, download the x5/m5 build from http://build.rockbox.org/, and unzip the contents of that to the root of your player. . If you are installing Rockbox for the first time, or reinstalling after removing the .rockbox directory it is recommended you install the fonts package from http://download.rockbox.org/daily/fonts/rockbox-fonts.zip. . Rockbox is now installed. list end ----- Original Message ----- From: <chou.clement_at_gmail.com> To: "Rockbox" <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2007 11:43 PM Subject: Re: installing rockbox onto an IAudio x5 > Did you check the manual on the rockbox site first?
