Hi Christy,

Avoiding extensive quoting for convenience: you proposed to have rockbox
beep when you go into active recording, and a different beep when going from
record into pause.

I agree half way on this, because I see a few small problems. I don't know
if they can be overcome, but here they are.

Hearing a beep while pausing is obviously great if it were developed for us.
On record however, I don't think it would be good. First, if you have to
first turn off the rec monitor when the beep sounds, and later turn it back
on again
after the beep finishes sounding, then your recording would start later than
you intend. Probably half a second, but too late.

Second, what would happen to the pre recording? Imagine you have it set to 5
seconds, then in the resulting recording at five seconds from the beginning,
you would either have an audible gap, or at least a missing bit of audio,
lasting the time it took to turn off recording, sounding the beep and going
into active record again.

I'm curious what other members here have to say about this, because
resolving the recording feedback issue for blind people will yet again add
great value to rockbox. It's just that I myself have no good idea yet as to
how this could be overcome. List, do you have any constructive ideas? Adding
a well thought over feature request to flyspray is more likely to be
adopted.

Paul.
