The iPod video 80GB was just given support about a month ago. Disk access is
still a bit
slow, and needs to be cleaned up further. Ergo, while Rockbox itself works
great on the
iPod video 80GB, the hard disk performance with it is not at the level
people want it to be.
Even though this page is not obsolete, it can at least explain (to an
extent) why the 80GB
iPod video support was so late in coming:
