I am now ready to wear my dunce cap. There were two .Trash-(username)
directories that cunningly concealed several files which I had deleted
as far back as a year ago. I
guess I was using Gnome and it put the 'deleted' files there. I didn't
check for .dotdirs.

All is now right with the world. As an added feature, the songs are
now ripped at a higher quality...
