Yes, Gert, it does charge the battery when the usb is connected to the
sansa with rockbox running.

I think when you have loaded the original firmware (OF), the rockbox
update should be not relevant. (It is important to run the OF instead of

rockbox when connecting via USB!)

I do have sometimes problems with the sansa's OF, that the device does
not show up in my linux PC. It helps to unplug and reattach the sansa or

to shutdown and restart it (while either plugged in or not - test both
ways).

btw: when USB-connecting the sansa with rockbox loaded, does this charge
