Recording does work. (I tried recording from the internal microphon. Because I do not have a radio unit I do not know if recording from radio does work). Also I do not know about the recording quality. I only know that rockbox offers many recordings-preferences like the file format, frequency, etc. > - Has the Sansa E 250 changeable batteries? Not really. But AFAIK there are battery replacements on the market. The device can be opened with a little screw driver so changing the battery should work, but not as comfortable as it will be with a trekstore vibez or a normal mobile phone. > Because I will buy a small and portable digital recorder. > I have an Iriver H 340 tough, but this has no changeable batteries which > is quite annoying when the batteries are empty. Changing the battery of the sansa on the go is not meant to be. It is more a repairing of the device. But the battery offers a good playing time (~20 h). Just charge it frequently and it will be no problem (Different to a notebook that gets a problem after 3 hours). You should be aware of a background noise problem with a sansa e2x0. When listening to music with very low volume in a quiet environment you can hear electronic noise. This seems to occur when the device is accessing the RAM or doing CPU-work or is drawing on the LCD display. This is the only real drawback of a sansa that I do know about. But in normal situations (e.g. listening in a train) this is not really a problem.
