HE-AAC is supported, but mostly in theory. In practice, you need a Gigabeat for real-time playback. Other than that, the few test tracks I've tried have worked (including one encoded by Winamp). Shouldn't crash though - as long as the file doesn't have a "bad" length. If it is somewhere between 1-1.5 hours, it can cause a freeze...
