I was actually going to ask about this. In FS#6240 (Improved voice
feedback in bookmark selection) I do just that: speak the folder or
playlist for most recent bookmark. Only recently did I realize that this
info isn't actually displayed on screen :-). I've had nothing but positive
comments about this: it's so much more useful to know the folder/playlist
than the track title.

Note that I also say the track title however. My patch would have it say
something like:

"bookmark 1, folder blabla, index 5, time 41 minutes 28, file my_file.ogg"

which I believe gives the info in order of decreasing interest.

I did implement functionality to speak full paths but preferred saying
only the last component of the folder name. I've been using this for
months, and in practice it's always been clear for me what folder was
being referred to.

I was going to suggest changing the screen to show "folder/track_title",
or "playlist: track_title".

Personally I don't feel that it's particularly useful to keep the old
behavior with a setting.
