It appears to me you are drawing conclusions from a faulty premise.
In your first post you said:

Which goes to show that Album Art in and of itself is not the cause of
the problem.
Next you speculated:

Which is the theory I just debunked.

My point being - I can not explain why Slant would cause high disk usage
while Cabbie doesn't, but I can say that you are chasing the wrong issue
if you believe it is because of the difference in the way they handle
Album Art.

Personally, I think you need to start over and retest - I suspect there
was a hidden variable in your first tests (Slant vs Cabbie) you so far
have not discovered - and that this unknown variable is what is
responsible for your disk usage and lagging.
